Folded Wings is an Incorporated Society, established in 1967, whose membership comprises of retired flight attendants.
What WE do
Folded Wings provides its members with opportunities to renew and form new friendships based on their common interests and experiences. Members are invited to take part in fundraising and service projects that provide many opportunities for involvement.
An annual subscription covers administrative costs. While most events are intended for members, Folded Wings Assn does also welcome partners and friends to several events each year, these are advertised accordingly.’
Originally established as a ladies only association, at a Special General Meeting in 2016 members unanimously voted to"include retired flight attendants of all genders into the Folded Wings Association."
From The President
Over the last 50 years, the hard work of various presidents and committee members along with continued loyalty of club members has made it possible for the Folded Wings Association to remain a thriving association to this day.
It’s incredible that this club was started in 1967 and has evolved over the years to stay relevant. Less than 50 years ago we had to resign if we decided to marry. Forming the club was a way to keep in touch and to have companionship as many women married airline staff who would be away for long stretches of time. It enabled the friendships that are still going to this day.
From the welcoming of our male flying companions, expanding our membership, to updating our logo and to the great success of our 50th year anniversary, these last few years have seen major changes to enhance our association
To stay relevant associations/clubs have had to embrace change and it’s fabulous that we now welcome our male counterparts and are gaining younger members. This is an area that I would like to grow and my legacy will be to increase membership to be more inclusive. For us to survive we must encourage younger members.
We are a special group who are very supportive of each other. Many of my friends are from flying days and we still keep in touch and have fun.
